spring, inside and out

They did say it would be in the sixties today, but it wasn't just a lovely, warm day - it was truly spring-like. I sat outside and kitted for a while, without a sweater. It was a bit cool, but really nothing. And the concrete step was warm to sit on!

I had a temptation to prune the roses or some such thing, but it's too early for that here. Very unFebruary-ish.

And inside my paperwhites are growing.

  1. The paperwhites are looking good! It's VERY unFebruary-ish here too. It has been in the upper 70 and 80's for the past few days, but tonight in the 20's. I have lots of stuff unusually blooming already. Have a good weekend!♥

  2. Ooooh! Wonderful! Not very spring-like here yesterday with storm-force winds and what the weather people call a'weather bomb'! Those paperwhites do grow quickly and grow tall too.

    1. Clare - I had to look up "weather bomb", because I haven't heard it used over here. But I have heard "bombogenesis", and wikipedia says it's the same thing. That was how they referred to our big snowstorm two weeks ago.

I didn't know you were having such a bad storm; 90 mile an hour winds? Take care!

    2. Thank-you Lisa. I was travelling on the train to Sheffield to visit my daughter as the weather worsened but fortunately, apart from being a bit late because the train's speed was restricted, the journey was fine. It was very windy but as I was in the city we were fairly well protected from the worst of the weather. At home, the winds were very bad and Richard and Elinor didn't enjoy it at all! They lost electricity at 2.00 in the afternoon and it wasn't restored until over 25 hours later after I had got home again. The worst damage was losing our new summerhouse which was smashed to bits! We hope to get a replacement on the insurance though.
