...I love an original simile, but they're not so common. I picked up an old Country Living from 20 plus years ago; there's a story in it by a Mary Coleman, beginning with a day which "dawned mild as a spinster's oath...".

ReplyDeleteMost definitely not! Although, with much of what is written (curse words etc., graphic scenes) it seems rather unfair.
ReplyDeleteYou know, Tracy and Sarah - I was just thinking that a modern day "spinster" wouldn't necessarily use a milder oath than anyone else. But you two are thinking something which didn't even occur to me! hmmm
